The CCUSA Camp Counselor Russia program may be just what you need. For fifteen years, we have offered this adventurous, challenging program to those who want to work as a counselor in a Russian summer youth camp for four to eight weeks from June to August. Every summer thousands of children head off for camps across Russia, from the shores of Lake Baikal to the beaches of the Black Sea. Each camp has its own philosophy, but all provide children a place to relax while having fun in an outdoor setting. We offer two positions in our Russia Programme: Camp Counselor or English/American Culture Instructor. As a Camp Counselor, you are a teacher, a leader and a friend to a group of children between the ages of eight and 16. You are responsible for the safety and well-being of your campers and for giving them the time of their lives! You spend most of the day outdoors. As an English/American Culture Instructor, you will be teaching English language classes every day to different classes. In these classes, you will be expected to incorporate cultural lessons about your own culture. You receive free room and board throughout the programme. These are considered volunteer positions because you are paid the same as your fellow Russian counselors, which may only work out to be a very small stipend. Then look no further than PGL, who run kids camps across Spain, France and the UK. Become a group leader, a watersports instructor or part of the support staff and prepare yourself for a fun-filled, active few months! Our young guests take part in a range of different activities from climbing to canoeing, abseiling to archery. We also run a dynamic evening entertainment programme making sure our guests are looked after from sunrise to sunset. Our operating season lasts from mid-January until November in the UK and northern France. Our centres in southern France and Spain are open from mid-April until September. You can apply to work for the full season in any country, for as little as eight weeks, or any period in between, although we have very few vacancies for work just over the summer months (June, July, August).
