This placement would suit... Lattitude placements suit individuals who are outward looking and seeking to engage the minds of other people as well as their own. A disposition towards physical activity and sports as well as the ability to enjoy yourself are also real assets
For applicants from the UK, we have a number of bursary schemes available for volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.
Our bursary scheme and funded placement projects reduce the barrier of cost for young people experiencing financial problems. They are designed to help young people who would not otherwise be able to afford to go. Schools placements
In Lattitude’s outdoor placements, you will have the opportunity to work alongside Australian volunteers in summer camps, helping to teach outdoor sports, such as sailing, kayaking and rock-climbing.
The outward-bound centre and youth hostel places offer opportunities to understand the administration of such organisations, as well as some participation in their activities. Canada also has placements available in large outdoor camps for disadvantaged, terminally ill, and mentally and physically disabled children or adults.
The work is varied ranging from maintenance, counseling, general outdoor skills, canoeing, sailing, life saving skills and first aid to woodcraft, camping and trekking! The caring component varies from 30% to 80% of the experience, depending on the camp structure. Basic caring would require lifting and helping with dressing (with more personal needs taken care of by onsite nurses).
There is also one conservation placement, helping to create walking tracks in northern British Columbia.
Departs
Between March and april for 3 to 10 months.
