Jobs at music festivals

FestivalIn our most recent survey, we asked you what your biggest worry was concerning festivals. The results have been extensively analysed by slightly pasty blokes in white coats, and can now be revealed. Besides the toilets (no surprise there), your biggest worry is the cost. For some reason, you guys resent shelling out the cost of a modest cruise liner for the chance to spend a weekend camping in a quagmire.

However, there is another way...

Join the crack team of litter pickers, stewards and catering staff who help the festivals to run smoothly and you could soak up the music for free, and maybe even earn a bob or two.

Litter-picking and recycling at festivals

Network Recycling keeps festivals tidy in an ecological way, making sure as much of the waste as possible is recycled. They do this at a number of the best festivals throughout the summer. It's possible to work in exchange for a free ticket at some of these festivals, and for payment at others. You can even join the crew and spend most of the summer with them.

Work as a steward for Oxfam

Are you over 18? Would you like to listen to your fave bands for free this summer, while helping to fight World poverty? Oxfam is looking for stewards for seven festivals this season, from Leeds to Womad. You'll receive full training, and then you'll be required to work three eight-hour shifts during the festival. Your role could include checking tickets, patrolling the site for potential hazards such as fires, or reporting lost and found children.

In return, you'll get free entrance to the festival, a meal ticket for every shift worked, a separate camping area with toilets and showers, and a very different festival experience.
