Name:
The PricewaterhouseCoopers Gap Year Programme

More info

You may have seen our name around, but what do we do? Well, PricewaterhouseCoopers is one of the world’s largest professional services organisations and our 120,000 people around the globe help organisations - businesses, charities and even governments - measure their financial performance and improve the way they work. This could involve conducting audits of their company results, giving them tax advice, or pointers on how to manage their risks more effectively. We work with a wide variety of clients, so you could find yourself working with a Premiership football club, a top fashion house or even a music TV channel.

The PricewaterhouseCoopers Gap Year Programme is a fantastic opportunity for students who want to put their gap year to good use. Our seven-month placement (September to March annually) allows students to build an impressive mix of business and personal skills, whilst leaving them plenty of time to carry out voluntary work or go travelling before starting university in the Autumn.

We recruit between 50 and 55 students each year into our offices throughout Central London, the South East, Midlands, South West England and Wales. Students join our client teams in Assurance & Audit, Tax, Forensic Services and Actuarial, and we give them plenty of real work and real responsibilities along the way.

We don’t just throw our Gap students in at the deep end - there’s an introductory training week at the start of the placement, where students will get to grips with all the business and IT skills they need. That might sound like a lot of hard work, but we make sure there’s time for some rest and relaxation during the evenings! The training doesn’t end there. Each student is assigned a Buddy and a Career Coach to help them settle in and start planning their career goals. We also run a series of national training days where our students choose the topics to work on and even help deliver the parts of the training.

Last but not least, we offer a competitive salary, which comes in handy when you’re saving up for your gap year adventure. And if they perform well during the placement, we’ll reward our students with sponsorship of £1,500 each year of university and paid work placements during vacations. In turn, students will be asked to assist PricewaterhouseCoopers in the delivery of marketing initiatives once they get to university.

Many of our former gap year students return to PricewaterhouseCoopers after they graduate, so it could in fact be the beginning of a long-term relationship with us!
