For the Faculty of Humanities we urgently require (to start as soon as possible) teachers of general Phonetics and Phonology (in English). You should be prepared to teach (amongst other things)... - English speech sounds (both articulatory and acoustic phonetics), and... - Transcription (the Universal IPA speech symbols). Applicants should also be able to teach general linguistics and English grammar. For the Faculty of Law we are looking for LLM / PhD holders, preferable retired lecturers, in any legal field. Makumira is also looking for a suitably qualified French teacher (with at least a first degree in French language, for native speakers of French, or at least a Masters degree in French, for non-native speakers of French) to teach undergraduates in the French Department as soon as possible.  Makumira University College will provide free accommodation on campus, a local stipend of £120 per month and medical services for minor ailments. We recommend all applicants take comprehensive travel insurance prior to leaving the UK. Applicants selected must bring original copies of their degree / GCSE / A level / LLM or other certificates from recognised academic institutions.Makumira University College is the oldest campus of Tumaini University, the national university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania. It is not a prerequisite that applicants be practising Christians as faith is not a selection criteria. Makumira University College in Tanzania is close to Mount Kilimanjaro, and at the foothill of Mount Meru. It is approximately 15 kilometres from Arusha, the gateway to Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Manyara and other northern national parks. It is approximately 40 kilometres from Kilimanjaro International Airport which provides daily flights to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.
